A High Pressure Water Jet Clears Lines
The hydro-jet system generates a very powerful stream of water. We then force this powerful stream of water through a sewer line or grease trap and line. The powerful jet of water can remove virtually any obstacle in the pipes and literally blow it away. There are several main causes of obstructions in a waste line. One of the main causes is is underground tree roots. Tree roots are capable of making holes in rusted iron pipes, and make their way into cracks in decaying clay pipes. Growing continues inside the pipe, and will soon become large enough to cause a permanent obstruction.  Another primary cause of waste line stoppages is build-up of toilet paper or paper towels. This then accumulates in the pipe until it becomes large enough to block the further flow of water. You know this is happening when your tub or sinks start backing up whenever you flush the toilets. Paper towels should not be thrown in the toilet: place a waste-basket in your bathroom and train your family and house-guests to throw paper towels into the waste basket and not in the toilet.

When we get called out to deal with a waste line stoppage, Hydrojetman brings out the very latest hydro-jet machine technology and deals with the problem right away. First, we send a video camera into the pipe and we camera the line. We do this to accurately find the location of the obstruction. It will also show us how much hydrojet hose we will have to insert down into the pipe.
The next thing to do is fill the hydrojet with water. This must be done onsite at your location – we can’t fill up at the shop and tow it because it would be too heavy, with water weighing 7 lbs per gallon, and these hydrojet machines hold up to 300 gallons, so they would be too heavy to tow. Next we fire up the powerful motor on the hydrojet machine. In a few minutes the desired pressure is reached and we are ready to go, with up to 5,000 lbs of water force per square inch. This is usually enough to remove almost any obstacle blocking the line. A key feature of the hydro-jet machine is a very long hose. The hose can be inserted into the pipe a hundred feet or more, to reach the place where the stoppage is located.

When we have removed the obstruction and we believe the line has been cleared, we again camera the line just to be sure. Then, to be absolutely certain there are no more problems, we flush the toilets and test the drains. If the sinks don’t back up when the toilet flushes, the line has been cleared.   Hydro-jet machines are very sophisticated devices, and you have to be an expert to use one. Our service techs are all experts in the operation of these machines. Hydrojetman is a certified operator of the US’s major hydro-jet manufacturers.
